The Best Lawyer

With a dozen other lawyers, policy makers, economists and civil society representatives

Salli Anne Swartz participated to write a book on "Mining Contracts: how to read and understand them" a user-friendly guide to help policy makers, civil society, citizens, and the media understand the often complex and opaque terms of mining contracts. This book, written from start to finish in five days, explains in layman's terms the principal features of a contract, compares different approaches to key issues, and supplies the context and background necessary for non-specialists to understand how contracts are negotiated and what they say.

The “booksprint” was co-organized by the Vale Columbia Center on Sustainable Development, the Revenue Watch Institute, OpenOil and the International Senior Lawyers Project, with support from Australian Aid, GIZ, and the World Bank and can be found on the following link.
